The Euphrates River in Prophecy

One geographic place in history that holds thousands of years of world impacting events in both times past, present and future, is the Great River Euphrates. Even the Middle East Peace movements of these times involve countries and lands and peoples who live along this river. This said, it is worthy of inclusion on any discussion regarding peace in the middle eastern countries of our world.

Scriptures recorded about this region are explicitly clear:

  • A branch of the river of Eden.Genesis 2:14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
  • The Great River
  • Genesis 15:18 In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

Deuteronomy 1:7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphra

The above passages are only the beginning of references contained within the Holy Bible about the role of this great river in the unfolding saga of the family of  the seed of Abraham. As a starting place, let us consider the promise made to Abraham then ponder further the final days heralded in the scriptures for all the sons of man until the return of Jesus Christ.

The history of this great river is an epoch tale, one that cannot be told in one casual sitting. Books have been written about this prophetic land and the lives that enumerate it’s fame, that perhaps a lifetime is not sufficient in which to relate the tale. Though this effort may be miniscule, it will be an effort to bring the readers to the heart of a great land, nations and peoples to the very crossing on the way to the promised land.

This is the most eventful time in history and we are all here to live it. Embrace it with passion and deep love. Watch it unfold with discerning hearts, minds and spirits. These days are not for the feeble of heart or spirit. If we drink from the well of love given us by our ancestors, we will find the key to weather the stormy journey.

The topics to be discussed and explored will be as follows:

    • The Life of the Patriarch Abraham

    • Promises Made to Abraham’s Seed

    • Overthrow of Egypt and Consolation from Jeremiah to Baruch

-see Jeremiah 36, The Holy Bible

    • Prophecy of the Valley of Jehoshaphat

    • War in Iraq

    • Promises made to Moab, Edom and Ammon

The actual damming of this great river has been taking place for about a decade. Prophecy talks about the day that the waters of the great river shall be dried up to make way for the kings of the east to pass through on dry land. That day is near.
